Summary

Our Learn, Serve & Immerse trip is a truly Alaskan experience, embracing our 49th state’s frontier communities, cultural heritage, and breathtaking natural beauty. Through partnerships with Read On the Fly  and StoryTracks, this trip is dedicated to promoting and enhancing literacy through a unique, interactive series of events and activities with local children. Your family will learn about the challenges facing some of our most rural northern communities and how to be a force for change, while exploring Alaskan culture, geography, art, and adventure.

This trip begins in Fairbanks, Alaska’s 2nd largest city, where you will explore museums and a picnic lunch (in a Treehouse!) and explore nearby botanical gardens. Enjoy learning about the Alaska native peoples and their history and take part in hands-on artwork. A highlight of the trip will surely be the train ride on the iconic Alaska Railroad from Fairbanks to Denali national Park, an evening campfire program, and a visit to a sled dog kennel to learn about mushing. You’ll also enjoy an evening goldrush dinner theater, all while making a meaningful difference.
